India needs to be get serious on the virtual front. Need of the hour a full-fledged military cyber command as there are online espionage and other attacks from China, Pakistan and others.

Cyber attacks were greatly highlighted in the Munich Security Conference on Sunday.

There is emergence of cyber-weapons like the Stuxnet software 'worm' that was used to sabotage Iran's nuclear programme over a year ago. In a economic time article it was told that it was a new class of weapon that caused a thousand centrifuges in Iran to self-destruct.

It has been observed that the developed countries would be the "main victims'' of cyber-warfare as they were the most inter-connected in terms of information technology.

Impact of cyper attacks can be enormous. Cyber-attacks can cripple a nation's military assets and strategic networks, energy grids and banking, communication and "infostructure''. Moreover, unlike missiles or nuclear bombs here the enemy remains largely unknown.
